The relationship of Knowledge and The Family Support with The Personal Hygiene Behavior of Adolescent Girls’ Menstruation of Class VIII at SMPN 8 Semarang

Abstract

Menstruation is the periodic bleeding and a seklis from the uterus that along with the release of (desquamation) endometrial. In the process of menstruation also appears a reaction or a positive response when the menstrual phase is sufficient.

The purpose of this study is to describe the knowledge of adolescent girls, a family support, the personal hygiene behavior of menstruation of adolescent girls, analyzing the relationship between knowledge and behavior, and also the support of families to personal hygiene behavior during the menstruation of adolescents in class VIII SMPN 8 Semarang.

This study uses a quantitative method with the statistical analysis and the design Cross-sectional survey design, the sample of this study were 117 respondents which taken by using proportionate random sampling technique, in this case purposive sampling is used.

The result showed that the majority of respondents have a sufficient knowledge level, have a good family support and the majority of them have a good behavior, and also there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the family support for behavior in SMPN 8 Semarang.
